Monarch Butterfly Inspired Fashion Illustration
The other day I watched a Monarch butterfly emerge from its chrysalis for the first time since I was in second grade. I watched as it opened and closed its wings until the chrysalis broke and it fell unceremoniously out, wings rolled tightly against its body.
I was so inspired by this process the other day that I designed her dress around the already open chrysalis. It’s designed to look like the stage between where the chrysalis is a beautiful sea foam green and gold; and when they have just barely opened and the chrysalis is imprinted with the pattern of their wings.
